2021 Ford Bronco vs. 2021 Jeep Wrangler

Overview

The Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler are two of the most iconic off-road-capable family vehicles. Both are known for their reliability, powerful engines, and rugged exterior. Continue reading as we go more in-depth on the differences between two of the most well-known midsize SUVs, the 2021 Ford Bronco and the 2021 Jeep Wrangler.

Engine and Fuel Economy

The 2021 Ford Bronco comes standard with a turbocharged 181-horsepower 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine with an optional turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that puts out 245 horsepower. Both engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and have a max towing capacity of 2,200 pounds. The EPA estimates that the Ford Bronco's three-cylinder engine has a fuel economy of 25 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. Its four-cylinder sibling has a lower rating of 21 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

The Jeep Wrangler has a 285-horsepower 3.6-liter V-6 under the hood and can have a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission. The V-6 has a max towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. The Jeep's 3.6-liter V-6 gets 19 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, which isn't terrible compared to other vehicles in this class. Going with the smaller 2.0-liter four-cylinder only nets slightly better results with 21 mpg city and 24 mpg highway, still less than the more fuel-efficient Bronco.

Infotainment

The 2021 Ford Bronco beats out the Jeep Wrangler in infotainment support. Its 8-inch touchscreen with Ford Sync 3 software is in every 2021 Bronco, while the Jeep Wrangler only has the essentials. The Bronco also comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Interior

The Ford Bronco boasts an attractive internal design with several new features. The 400-watt power inverter and built-in LED lights provide overhead lighting when out after dark, and the rising roofline means more cargo space in the back. In addition, the Bronco has a comfortable driving position and easy-to-clean rubberized flooring and upholstery for all those muddy day trips.

The Jeep Wrangler isn't the most spacious SUV on the market, but it does have a nice blend of its classic Jeep features. Unfortunately, its maneuverability is almost entirely offset by the obstructed view of your surroundings. Thick roof pillars, roll bars, and various other obstructions mean you'll need to remove the roof and doors to really take it all in while off-roading.

These two vehicles are the perfect vehicles for off-roading enthusiasts who want a decent family SUV as well. Overall the Ford Bronco's better fuel efficiency and interior design make it the best option for the everyday commuter and gives it the win.
