2021 Ford EcoSport vs. 2021 Kia Soul

Overview

If you're looking for a subcompact vehicle, you might be considering the 2021 Ford EcoSport and the 2021 Kia Soul. Find out how these two vehicles compare so you can make the best choice for your needs.

Trim Levels and Configurations

The 2021 Kia Soul has six trim levels, with seven different configurations in total: the EX, the GT-Line, the LX (which comes in either an IVT or manual option), the S, the Turbo, and the X-Line. The 2021 Ford EcoSport, meanwhile, has four different trims: the S, SE, SES, and Titanium. With the exception of the SES, each of these trims is available with either four-wheel-drive (4WD) or front-wheel-drive (FWD), for a total of seven configurations. The Kia Soul is only available in front-wheel drive.

The Ford EcoSport comes equipped with a Cargo Management System that includes an adjustable rear load floor and shelf to help organize your gear on the SE and above. The available Cargo Management Package adds a cargo net and organizers. Other available packages include an Interior Protection Package, the SE Convenience Package, the SE Appearance Package, and the SES Black Appearance Package.

Exterior

If the exterior style is a priority for you, it's worth noting that the 2021 EcoSport comes in more colors than the 2021 Soul. Most Soul trims are available in six different colors, which vary slightly depending on the trim you choose; the GT-Line and Turbo only have five options each. The EcoSport is available in 10 different colors.

Both vehicles can be classified as crossovers, and they have similar exterior dimensions. The Soul is slightly longer and wider, while the EcoSport has the edge in height. As its name suggests, the EcoSport also boasts a sporty exterior. While the Kia Soul has a boxier hatchback style, the Ford EcoSport has the sleek lines you would expect on a sport utility vehicle.

Safety and Convenience

Both the EcoSport and the Soul have a healthy list of standard and available features. However, only the EcoSport offers a Wi-Fi hotspot. The Kia Soul also lacks the knee airbag and rear side airbag-equipped on the EcoSport. The EcoSport comes with a capless fueling system, an available exterior PIN entry system, and speed-sensitive wipers for added convenience.

For a sporty exterior, an intelligent 4WD system, and more customization options, the 2021 Ford EcoSport edges out the 2021 Kia Soul as the ideal crossover.
