Here at DARCARS Ford of Lanham, we know there's a growing portion of drivers who want to maximize their commute in the most efficient way possible, and that's why they are turning to hybrid or electric cars and SUVs. We're happy to say that Ford has a lineup of these options and we can help you decide on which one is best for you and your lifestyle, while also guiding you through the process of buying or leasing a hybrid or electric vehicle if it's your first time doing so.

What Are the Ford Electric Vehicles?

Currently, the only full electric vehicle meaning it only runs on electric battery powered motors is the forthcoming 2021 Ford Mustang Mach-E. This will use two electric motors positioned in the rear of the vehicle to offer anywhere between 255 horsepower to 459 horsepower. It's a combination of the best elements of the Mustang nameplate, but it's a small crossover option as well, making for a truly unique offering in the new Ford lineup, while giving you high performance, standout technology and features, and much more all without needing a single drop of gasoline, running on electric power, which can give you a 300-mile driving range, and charge up anywhere you find a charging station, including being able to install one at home.

What Are the Ford Hybrid Vehicles?

There are four current hybrid options available in the new Ford lineup, which includes:

  • Ford Fusion Hybrid
  • Ford Fusion Plug-In Hybrid
  • Ford Explorer Limited
  • Ford Escape SE Sport Hybrid

With the Fusion models, you're getting both that use a gas-electric combination, while the Fusion Plug-In Hybrid can provide you with charging capability and a longer electric driving range and better mileage choices. The Explorer Limited offers a hybrid engine option that doesn't sacrifice much, if any in the way of power and performance that you'd expect, giving you a larger vehicle that operates more efficiently, while the Escape SE Sport Hybrid gives you a quality crossover option that has standout fuel economy savings thanks to the addition of an electric motor.

Along with these options, there's also the Ford C-MAX, which was a hybrid and plug-in hybrid compact car that we have in our used car collection here at DARCARS Ford of Lanham.

How Can I Charge My Ford Hybrid or Electric Vehicle?

One of the biggest questions we get asked is how to charge your Ford hybrid or electric vehicle, particularly the Mustang Mach-E and the Fusion Plug-In Hybrid. Here in the Maryland and Washington, DC area there are many public charging station options available that you can use, but also there's incentives not only when you purchase a low-emission vehicle like our hybrids and electric cars, but incentives to get a home charging station as well. If you have a garage or place to store your vehicle and 120-volt outlet on its own 15- to 20-amp circuit, it's simple and easy to replenish your vehicle while it's sitting in your garage.
