1. Active
The Explorer features a 300-horsepower engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard rear-wheel or offered four-wheel drive. It has standard terrain management and trailer sway control. The Explorer includes a standard 5G Wi-Fi hotspot, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker stereo, and eight USB ports.
Standard conveniences include a power liftgate, intelligent access with push-button start, and roof-rack side rails. You’ll also have three-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and a power-adjustable driver’s seat. The Explorer incorporates the latest driver assistance tech across the lineup including rear parking sensors. Options include a moonroof and 8-way power passenger seat.
2. ST-Line
The rugged ST trims feature black front and rear skid plates, black lower body cladding, and a blacked-out effect on the headlamps and taillamps. The interior is enhanced with available ambient lighting, ActiveX upholstery with red accent stitching, and ebony door trim with red stitching. Additional safety tech in the ST-Line includes a 360-degree camera, reverse automatic emergency braking and front parking sensors.
You’ll enjoy the sounds of the 10-speaker B&O® Sound System, while passengers will appreciate the comfort of heated rear seats. The ST-Line also adds a useful remote start system. You can also update this model with a 110V/150W AC power outlet and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
3. ST
The ST model stands out with a 3.0L EcoBoost® V6 engine that delivers 400 hp. This model also features quad chrome exhaust tips, performance brakes with red front and rear calipers, and sport-tuned suspension. It comes with a wireless charging pad as well.
4. Platinum
The Explorer Platinum has a distinctive look, with an ebony and satin chrome grille and silver front and rear skid plates. This model also adds perforated leather upholstery, adaptive headlights, a 14-speaker B&O® Sound System, HD radio, and a Panoramic Vista Roof® with a power sunshade.
