Flexibility is key to your off-roading success, and the Bronco’s 4×4 system allows you to choose between two modes: 2H (two-wheel drive high range for smoother surfaces) and 4H (four-wheel drive high range for rough and slippery surfaces). Plus, this vehicle has an available electronic shift-on-the-fly (ESOF) transfer case that allows you to switch on the fly while you’re moving at speeds up to 55 mph!

Engine Power and Performance

Ford’s Bronco has a 2.3L EcoBoost engine that generates 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. In other words, this SUV is a turbocharged powerhouse able to easily tackle rough terrain. You could be navigating sandy hills, rocky slopes, or a mix of both and more. No matter what you’re tackling on your drive, this engine will help maintain traction and control over your ride—not the elements.

Suspension and Ground Clearance

Need to get over rocky obstacles without hesitation? One of our favorite features Ford gave to the Bronco is its impressive suspension and ground clearance. All of the High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension (HOSS) Systems allow you to feel confident in your driving abilities. Compared to other off-roading SUVs, this vehicle has an independent front suspension and solid rear axle setup that allows your wheels to stay firmly planted on the ground. Even the base trim boasts 8.4 inches of ground clearance, which can help you go up against some of the most uneven surfaces!

Off-Road Driving Modes

You want your off-roading SUV to adapt to various conditions, as nature is unpredictable. Thankfully, Ford created the Bronco’s G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) Modes to help you adjust quickly. A number of selectable modes are available: Sport, Eco, Normal, Slippery, Sand/Snow. Mud/Ruts, Rock Crawl, and Baja drive modes are not available on every trim. Tow-Haul and Off-Road drive modes are standard on the Bronco Raptor. With each selection, you can adjust the transmission gearing, throttle response, and traction control settings to optimize your vehicle’s performance based on your surroundings.
