The Ford Expedition MAX is a larger version of the regular Ford Expedition. There are 4 MAX trims to choose from. Let’s take a look at how many people each 2024 Expedition MAX trim can carry at once.
Expedition XLT MAX
The first MAX trim is the XLT. The standard model seats 8 passengers, and 7-passenger seating is optional. The second row is a bench that folds flat and can be split in a 40/20/40 configuration if you’re traveling with 6-7 passengers and extra cargo. The third row also folds flat and has a power recline function.
You can opt to get 40/20/40 power folding tip and slide second-row seats instead of the manual fold-flat seat with CenterSlide®. XLT MAX models with 7 seats have tip and slide captain’s chairs in the second row. You can choose to upgrade the third row by adding power-folding head restraints if you’d like.
Expedition Limited MAX
The next MAX trim, the Limited, has standard 7-passenger seating. Limited MAX models with 8-passenger seating are also available. The Limited MAX has power-folding tip and slide captain’s chairs in the second row. Models with 8-passenger seating have 40/20/40 power folding tip and slide second-row seats.
The third row has power recline and PowerFold® functions and can be partially or fully folded down depending on your needs. The third row also has a power recline function along with power-folding head rests to help provide more comfort to 3rd-row passengers.
Expedition King Ranch MAX
Seven passengers can fit comfortably in the standard King Ranch MAX models. This trim doesn’t have an 8-passenger option. A pair of power-folding tip and slide captain’s chairs are standard for second row passengers. Third row passengers get to enjoy a third row with a 60/40 PowerFold® function.
Expedition Platinum MAX
Standard Platinum MAX models have 7-passenger seating. Eight-passenger seating is optional. This MAX trim has power-folding tip and slide captain’s chairs. The third row, like with the other trims, can be folded in a 60/40 configuration. If you get a model with 8 seats, then 40/20/40 power folding tip and slide seats replace the captain’s chairs in the second row.
How Much Room Do Passengers Have in the Expedition MAX?
The front, second, and third row passengers have 42, 40, and 37.4 inches of headroom respectively. There are 43.9, 42.6, and 40.9 inches of maximum legroom. Each row has over 60 inches of shoulder room. The front, second, and third rows have 62.2, 62.6, and 51.4 inches of hip room respectively.
